As a guide for roller shutter elements on windows and doors, roller shutter rails are no alternative. EXTE now supplies the latest generation of these important accessories with new, bionic internal geometry and a new latching system. The aim was to significantly increase stability, particularly with regard to rising outdoor temperatures.
PVC is permanently deformable under high temperatures and at the same time under weight or pressure. In addition, it is subject to a thermal change in length, which has an effect of 0.3% on the profile length for white profiles and 0.5% for colored profiles. These properties, combined with the trend towards dark decorative films and faulty assembly, such as an incorrectly set compression band, can lead to significant impairment of function due to thermal deformations. With a great deal of development effort, the Wipperfürth-based roller shutter box specialist has now succeeded in making a total of 11 PVC roller shutter rails significantly more stable with the same dimensions. The basis for this is a new bionic design, which was developed according to the criterion of optimum deformation resistance. The geometry of the new running rails is based on natural biological systems, whose design principles can be used by development engineers with the help of special calculation methods.
Minimal deformation and increased strength
With their deformation-optimized design, the new roller shutter rails offer 76% more stiffness than before. The geometry of the roller shutter rails has been further reinforced, especially for the increased requirements of dark profiles with decorative films. As a result, the maximum possible deformation is reduced by a further 50%.
EXTE engineers have also succeeded in improving the lower locking geometry so that the pull-off forces between running rail and nipple screw could be increased by 42%. At the same time, the new locking device closes on one-sided pressure and thus prevents the roller shutter track from the shutter rail from the shutter frame. As a result, stability and ease of installation are significantly increased.
The Wipperfürth-based manufacturer EXTE is a specialist in shutter box systems, window accessories and privacy elements. As a partner to the construction industry, EXTE supplies system houses, window manufacturers and manufacturers. The company sees itself as a price and technology leader and develops and produces all systems and tools itself at three locations in Germany.
