At the beginning of September, 10,000 m was built on the roof of the 10,000 m2 large production and warehouse has put a new photovoltaic system into operation. 2,272 individual modules with a net output of 770 kWp will generate an annual electricity volume of more than 650,000 kWh in the future. This meets the needs of around 200 single-family households.
A long-term, environmentally conscious corporate policy requires energy-efficient production methods and the use of renewable energy. As early as 2019, EXTE built a new production and warehouse that focused on energy efficiency and sustainability in production. The selection of machines and systems set new standards: for example, the new fully automated mixing plant requires around 30% less energy than comparable plants. In addition, the entire plant is heated exclusively using waste heat from the production plants. This creates a constant and consistently good working environment all year round. Even the production waste is 100% recycled and returned to the material cycle.
Solar power for improved energy balance
The commissioning of the new photovoltaic system is now a further step towards improving the energy balance. Because the electricity produced does not only flow into production. The new plant also supplies the majority of the company's own vehicle fleet, which has already been converted to electric drives, with environmentally friendly solar power. The east-west orientation of the tilted PV modules optimizes the all-day use of solar energy. In terms of its size, the plant also sets a new standard. It is the largest photovoltaic system in Wipperfürth and the ninth largest in the Oberbergischer Kreis. Dan Friedl, who runs the company in the second generation together with his brother Arn Friedl, explains the underlying decisions as follows: “Efficient production technology and the extensive use of renewable energy are an important key to climate-friendly growth and continued EXTE's success. ”
The Wipperfürth-based manufacturer EXTE is a specialist in shutter box systems, window accessories and privacy elements. As a partner to the construction industry, EXTE supplies system houses, window manufacturers and manufacturers. The company sees itself as a price and technology leader and develops and produces all systems and tools itself at three locations in Germany.
